Who are we?

The Edgbarrow Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a team of volunteer parents/carers and teachers, many of whom have full or part- time jobs but give some of their time to help support the school to benefit the students. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school and to raise vital funds for our school. PTAs are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and students to get together.

What do we do?

We organise activities during the year, such as the PTA Quiz Night and Christmas Shopping Evening, which raise funds for the school. We also support specific school activities like the Careers Evening or serving refreshments at school productions and concerts. The PTA and Assistant Head Teachers meet every few months to plan the terms’ activities and discuss funding opportunities and specific project requests from the school.

We always need more volunteers to help us sustain the level of support that the school requires to deliver its wide range of experiences for Edgbarrow students and to ensure that our volunteers only need to give as much time as they want/can. Whether you are new to Edgbarrow, or your child is joining the school in September as a sibling, the PTA is a fantastic way for you to get to meet other parents and feel part of the school community without having to commit to a large, time-demanding role.

How can you get involved?

The adage ‘many hands make light work’ really does hold true for any voluntary organising, including our PTA. You can help as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, from joining the committee to helping organise a particular event or just lending a hand at school events. Whether you have PTA experience to share from your primary school or you have never been involved in a PTA before, we would be glad to have you on board so please get in touch.

Why should you get involved?

We need your help! It is also extremely rewarding to see a new project get funded. We need to raise enough money to help the school with a couple of projects to further enhance the environment for the pupils. Plus, the school minibus and lots of smaller funding, such as basketballs for break times and supporting Year 11 and Year 13 prom, just to name a few.
