About the PTA
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an organisation of parents and staff. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school. PTAs are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together.
The function of Edgbarrow School's PTA is to support the school in promoting activities and assist with fundraising by actively engaging in a range of events across the academic year. It also serves as a platform for parents to meet and have a voice in regards where funds are allocated.
The school's Senior Leadership Team forward requests for expenditure to the PTA and decisions are made by member consultation based on priority and fairness, for example, meeting the leasing cost of the school bus and the purchase of a laser cutting machine for the Craft Design Technology department.
Besides direct fundraising, the PTA organise and run the annual Careers Evening where organisations and employers come to the school and give advice and guidance on career opportunities which are available to the pupils, this being valuable in deciding GCSE and A Level Options.
