Year 6 to 7 Transition
Welcome Year 6
We strive to make the transition from Year 6 to Edgbarrow School as smooth and positive as possible for new students and their parents/carers.
To help you, our current Year 7s have made a survival guidebook (select the link) for all Year 7s starting in September 2019. We hope you find it helpful.
During the Summer term, we aim to visit every young person at their primary school to introduce ourselves and start to get to know them individually. We also liaise with their primary school teachers and collect information which aids us when allocating teaching groups.
Students are invited to two induction days when they will take part in various activities and sample lessons to allow them to get to know us and us, them. For 2020, the induction will be held on Wednesday 1st July and Thursday 2nd July from 8.50am to 3.20pm each day. Students should arrive at school at 8.40am on both days to go to the School Hall.
In addition, there will be a meeting on Thursday 9th July from 7pm – 8pm in the Hall for parents/carers and students to meet Form tutors. This will take the form of short presentations from Mr Matthews Headteacher and Mrs McClatchie Head of Year 7 and will be an opportunity for students to spend some time in form rooms with their form tutor. Students should bring pens for this activity.
Members of our PTA will also attend the evening and will be happy to talk to you about the valuable work they do for the school and how you can become involved.
If you would like the opportunity to try on blazers for sizing before purchase, samples will be available after school on Wednesday 1st July / Thursday 2nd July (induction days) and Thursday 9th July from 3.30pm – 5pm.
